Christmas

So, I bought a new Christmas tree on Thursday night. It's one of those fancy shmancy ones with the fibre optic lights in the end of the branches. We threw our old one out earlier in the year cos I decided that if we had a new house of our very own, we needed a new tree too!!

Stupid me brought the box in from the car and told DS all about it and now he's really excited.

BC (before children) we used to put the tree up as close to Christmas as possible - like Christmas Eve!! Mind you that's also when we used to do our Christmas shopping.

Now i'm thinking we should put it up soon so that DS can enjoy it, but isn't it bad luck to put it up before the 1st of December???? But it is only a MONTH til Christmas - can you believe it?

What do you do at your house?

I've never put the tree up before December but not cos it's bad luck. It's just once the tree is up, you get nagged to dead about how many sleeps until santa!

Love your tree. We put ours up about a week before Xmas, any earlier and the kids drive me nuts! And I have a hell of a time figuring out where to put it, it is soooo big and my house if full of furniture already, it's hard to find room for it. This year I think I'll only use the top part of the tree and put it ??? Darn it, I don't know yet!

If I can contain myself, it will go up on Friday night (1st Dec).

We have always been a first weekend in December family, for as long as I can remember, and this is something I will continue when I have my own family.

Mum and Dad still get a real tree, even though us kids are all grown up now - I love it!!!

Yup first of Dec is a family thing for me too...
We grew up with live trees... but my dad used to go and cut one down.. so we always had a fabulous tree.. not like some of those anorexic bloody things you see for sale at the shops...
i have just a common crappy ol plastic number.. but was eyeing off a gorgeous purple on in one of the catalogs I was flipping thru... hmmmmm

We normally do it on the first of Dec and take it down around new years...Hubby is taking the boys camping next weekend - so I am going to get hime to help me put the lights up outside this weekend - but we wont turn them on till next weekend. I may put the tree up one day during the week while the boys are at school, and they can decorate when they get home:)
- for the kids nagging about when santa is coming - I buy an advent calender for each of the boys - they open a new window each night!!

We only bought a Xmas tree last year! Good question. We'll probably put it up the week before Xmas. Actually...just asked Dan, he says first week of December :-) I hope this finds you well!

I've got very slack about the tree since Jake got older - and if we're going away I don't bother at all. But everyone's coming to us for Xmas Day this year, so I'll drag the decorations out this year. Think I'll go and buy a nice potted tree to decorate and then put it on the balcony after.

I've never worried about dates, just whenever the urge strikes (to put it up AND take it down)... Have been known to still have the tree up mid January - LOL!

I always aim for Dec 1 or as close as I can after it, and then AIM for Boxing Day to take it down, but, like Hayley, it has occasionally stayed up until mid Jan. I doubt it this year though - with one munchikin running and one almost crawling I doubt it will even last a week.

I had to play at this stupid Christmas Carols gig the other week for the official lighting of the Christmas Tree in Brisbane (the one the council puts up). It felt WRONG... it was on November 18th! Now THAT'S too early.

o I love xmas so much I can never wait until December.

I tried to hold out but then justified it to myself by saying my flatmates were going away on the 15th so I needed to put all the decorations up early. hehehe.

I spend a fortune every xmas. This year I was restrained myself and still ended up spending hundreds of dollars on decorations. I do a different theme every year. This years theme is 'glass, white and silver'. Freedom was my best friend. :)

I've wanted my tree up since the 1st Nov. But so far havenm't gotten round to doing it. I'll probably put it up this weekend though so that makes the 1st dec for me. Definitely have it up earlier rather than later. There's alot of work goes into decorating a tree you need time to enjoy it.

Your tree made me want one! We usually put up a tree 2 weeks before xmas. My hubby wants a fake one w/ lights this year but I still like the real ones though they are messy. Don't want to put up too early as the tree dries out and also have the "how many sleeps till xmas" like the above poster.

YAY!!! CHRISTMAS!! I'm such a Christmas nut. I just put the work tree up early because the receptionist was leaving and I'd been bragging about my bronze and green colour scheme all year. (I've been stock piling the decorations!) Do whatever feels good. I don't believe it's bad luck, have fun :)
